Washington Sundar’s cricketing story is as unique as his name. While many know him today as a dependable offspinner, he actually began his cricketing journey as a batsman. It wasn’t until later that his bowling took the spotlight.
As a kid, Sundar loved to bowl, but only during matches. He found fielding boring and would rather be involved in the action. With time, and under the guidance of former India offspinner M. Venkataramana, Sundar began to take bowling seriously. His disciplined style and calm temperament soon made him a regular in domestic cricket, and his debut in the IPL at just 17 proved he belonged on the big stage.
Washington Sundar’s journey is one of quiet hard work, versatility, and rising to the occasion every single time.
